Position

MIO is seeking an Associate Director of Sustainability to focus primarily on expanding our Sustainability capabilities. We have committed to continue developing our Sustainability approach, including enhancement of our ESG and Diversity & Inclusion efforts. The ideal candidate is a subject-matter expert, who will help us to realize these goals over the next several years.


The role entails supporting the Sustainability goals of both our public and private market functions, developing ESG engagement practices, and administering our internal sustainability efforts. In addition, the new hire will play an integral part in bolstering several MIO initiatives, such as Diversity & Inclusion, Manager Diversity, and the Green Team. In the longer-term, this individual will launch our thought leadership function, which includes identifying emerging ESG trends and executing on an impact measurement and management framework for relevant products. The Associate Director of Sustainability will report directly to MIO’s General Counsel, who also functions as the Chief Sustainability Officer.


This is a full-time, permanent employment opportunity. MIO has adopted a flexible, hybrid model that supports a blend of in-office and remote work. Our physical offices are located in Midtown, New York. COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for this position (subject to accommodation for health and religious reasons).

Primary responsibilities

  • Lead execution (and revision as needed) of our Sustainable Investing Policy and Responsible Citizen Policy
  • Lead administration and coordination of our internal sustainability efforts (including but not limited to the Diversity & Inclusion Initiative, the Manager Diversity Initiative, and the internal Green Team)
  • Provide expertise and input to our Investment team on the development of applicable investment products (including but not limited to manager search, due diligence, impact reporting, etc.)
  • Lead all reporting, including the updating of policies and internal reporting on relevant ESG metrics (i.e., Annual Impact Report)
  • Continuously monitor and report on emerging ESG trends
  • Design and execute ad hoc sustainability projects as needed

Desired Background

  • Undergraduate degree from a top-tier university; master’s degree preferred
  • 7-10 years of professional experience including demonstrated investment knowledge and 3-6 years in an ESG/Sustainability role
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Experience in impact measurement, management, and/or reporting

Certain US states require MIO Partners, Inc. to include a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. A reasonable estimate of the range for new joiners for this role in the United States is $150,000-$170,000. This role is also bonus eligible. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to an individual’s assigned office location, experience, and expertise.
