The MIO IT team is seeking a Business/System Analyst to act as a liaison between the IT and Legal team. This individual will report directly to an Enterprise Architect and work to determine requirements for Legal & Compliance-related systems and coordinate with the IT team and third-party vendors to select, implement, configure, and maintain these systems. The new hire will work extensively with business team end-users to train them on available tools/capabilities and understand their requirements and issues. MIO has transitioned to a hybrid work arrangement. It is expected that this individual report to our Midtown, New York offices 2-3 days/week. COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for this position (subject to accommodation for health and religious reasons).

Primary responsibilities

  • Lead operations and support for overall technical solutions that span data privacy and businesses, including OneTrust
  • Support key internal technical stakeholders to drive technical planning and design decisions for OneTrust privacy platform and related applications
  • Support the development of long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for legal and privacy technology solutions and enterprise data management with the product and engineering teams
  • Provide day-to-day functional subject-matter expert (SME) support and escalation point for privacy technology, including enhancements, incidents, and upgrades
  • Oversee additional legal applications and manage ongoing projects and resources from third-party vendors including vendor and document management platforms
  • L1 and L2 support, including escalation, resolution, and reporting across the technical footprint for data privacy and legal including vendor and document management platforms
  • Monitor the availability and reliability of key technology platforms and applications
  • Effectively translate business requirements into end-to-end technical solutions, leveraging IT products and services
  • Serve as a central knowledge champion and SME for legal technology and related privacy systems to the technical/developer community
  • Act as a functional liaison with internal technology stakeholders to share best practices
  • Make recommendations to upper management on new features and innovation ideas for all legal applications
  • Collaborate with internal IT and third-party resources for projects, enhancements, troubleshooting, and performance optimization

Desired background and skills

  • 4-7 years of experience as a Business or Systems Analyst for a Legal or IT team at a law firm/financial services firm
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Legal/regulatory technology systems knowledge and quantitative skills
    • Experience working with legal technology systems, including regulatory technology tools and general knowledge management systems; previous experience using and managing M-files and OneTrust is a plus
    • Understanding of legal and compliance concepts in relation to data privacy laws/regulations is preferred
    • Working knowledge of business intelligence systems and their use in a Legal or Compliance setting within the investment industry


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to interact with all levels of management, business partners, internal clients, and application developers
  • Proven technical writing skills, and the ability to summarize and clearly articulate complex issues/technical documents
  • Experience developing presentations utilizing Excel, Access, Word, & PowerPoint

IT knowledge/experience

  • Ability to analyze trade-offs (cost vs. benefit) of technology implementation
  • Demonstrated experience working with IT team to implement projects
  • Understanding of and experience with business intelligence systems
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel including VBA programming and Microsoft Visio
  • Familiar with OneDrive, SharePoint, AWS Cloud, data management and workflow tools, and SQL

Business analysis

  • Ability to understand core business processes, analyze business problems and translate needs into detailed technical requirements
  • Ability to develop and enhance data models and schema consistent with existing enterprise data infrastructure
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with internal clients (business groups) to gather detailed requirements in order to plan, develop, install, test, and maintain high-quality, effective technology applications
  • Experience supporting and training business user groups

  • Ability to build supportive relationships and commitment of both end user and IT team members to team goals and objectives in fast-paced environments
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability and desire to make timely decisions based on analysis
