MIO is currently seeking a professional and motivated candidate interested in joining the firm as an Investment Data Specialist. Data Specialists are responsible for providing support to portfolio managers in the areas of hedge fund data and due diligence and manager onboarding processes. This is a full-time position based in New York City.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collect hedge fund manager information from various sources and compile comprehensive database universes by systematically codifying, inputting, and analyzing data
  • Conduct regular and ongoing maintenance of fund manager information utilizing internal systems and databases, as well as identifying and addressing any data issues
  • Support due diligence and onboarding process of external fund managers
  • Perform periodic formal reviews of invested manager data
  • Depending on the candidate’s background and experience, there are additional opportunities to contribute to/manage various team initiatives:
    • Streamline the fund manager data collection/maintenance processes and develop an optimal support model
    • Fulfill ad hoc portfolio manager-specific requests pertaining to fund managers/investment universes

Desired Background

Successful candidates will possess the following attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of postgraduate experience, with 1-2 years having been in the financial sector (special consideration will be given to those with experience in the data and analysis of hedge funds and those with experience in fund accounting)
  • Systems knowledge of Investran, Geneva or other fund accounting systems advantageous
  • Proficient in Excel (i.e. formulas, VBA, etc.)
  • SQL knowledge a plus
